Super Mario Party Jamboree

- Reviewed on  Switch  - Super Mario Party Jamboree released on October 17th, 2024.  With dozens, upon dozens of Mario Party games, across all generations of Nintendo systems, this latest installment in the illustrious Mario Party series, is an award nominated party game, well worth the time of any and all Mario fans. It's no secret that Mario titles, especially on Nintendo Switch, have mouthwatering graphics. Super Mario Party Jamboree is no different! This game is incredibly polished, the music is incredible as usual, however, I do have a problem with the Mario Party mode, minigames. Nonetheless, Super Mario Party Jamboree combines all the great aspects of Mario Party, into this one title. Making this installment in the series, the biggest and most enjoyable one yet (in my opinion)! This review WILL have  Major Spoilers  so keep that in mind before continuing... Mario Party is one of my highlights of the Nintendo gaming calendar.  Whenever a new Mari...

Nickelodeon Kart Racers

- Reviewed on  Switch  - Nickelodeon Kart Racers released on October 23rd, 2018.  With many Nickelodeon characters and franchises being well known in many aspects of entertainment, such as toys, television, books, and video games, it was a matter of time before we got the next racing game with our beloved intellectual properties (IPs).  Though it's not the first Nickelodeon racing title, Nickelodeon Kart Racers is the newest (series) installment in the Nickelodeon racing lineage. Developed by Bamtang Games, Nickelodeon Kart Racers puts you in control of various Nickelodeon characters, as you race for first place, through, in my opinion, very well-designed tracks / worlds. This review WILL have  Major Spoilers  so keep that in mind before continuing... When booting up Nickelodeon Kart Racers for the first time, you will see the level of design that went into this game. Specifically, starting with the character designs. I said just earlier that I do ador...

SEGA AGES Sonic The Hedgehog

- Reviewed on  Switch  - SEGA AGES Sonic The Hedgehog released on September 20th, 2018.  With the original Sonic The Hedgehog releasing all the way back in 1991, developers M2 brought this family friendly title, back in 2018, to the Nintendo Switch, as a part of SEGA AGES. I, personally, was a Nintendo kid, who mainly played Mario titles, but after purchasing this very convenient version of Sonic The Hedgehog, on one of my favorite consoles (as of writing this blog post), being able to experience this game that many others grew up on, instead of the red plumber, was a true joy, and a lot more fun than I even expected! This review WILL have  Major Spoilers  so keep that in mind before continuing... This re-release of Sonic The Hedgehog, in my opinion, is the best way to introduce players to the original platformer.  The story for Sonic The Hedgehog, for those who don't know, is about the famous, extremely fast, hedgehog, saving innocent animals from the...

INSIDE

- Reviewed on  Switch  - INSIDE released on June 29th, 2016.  The developers behind 2010's massively acclaimed title, LIMBO, are known for their amazing, moody gameplay style.  Their games, to me, are more of a cinematic experience.  These developers, called Playdead, also released another critically acclaimed title, INSIDE, back in 2016.  This platformer will take you on a creepy, dark narrative, as you unveil the horrid story behind this (average) five-hour game. This review WILL have  Major Spoilers  so keep that in mind before continuing... Going into this title, I immediately got vibes from another video game, Little Nightmares. Though, in comparison, Little Nightmares was more horror based, while INSIDE was more of a dark toned, narrative experience.  There are horror elements in this game that will make you stress over time, but the main gist of this gameplay is puzzle based. To begin, you play as a young child, who, along with ev...

Virtua Fighter 5

- Reviewed on  PS3  - Virtua Fighter 5 released on July 12th, 2006. The fighting series known to fans as Virtua Fighter, has had many different, elaborate titles in its long and rich history. I personally grew up with Virtua Fighter games, on the PS2, and so when I began playing Virtua Fighter 5 on the PS3, I was excited to jump back into the action with memorable characters and a plethora of combos to start learning. Virtua Fighter 5 was developed by Sega AM2 and published by Sega.  This review WILL have  Major Spoilers  so keep that in mind before continuing... Back in 2006, the main feature, Sega AM2, created for Virtua Fighter 5, was the customization feature. With 17 characters available from the start, and one available to unlock, all 18 characters have four, different, preset costume slots (labeled Type A - D). Every character has a Main Costume (which makes the game automatically choose that Type when playing) and a Sub Costume (which serves as your...

MySims Racing

- Reviewed on  3DS  - MySims Racing released on June 12th, 2009. Based on The Sims' spin off series of games, entitled, "MySims", that mainly released during the Nintendo Wii and DS era, MySims Racing was developed by Behaviour Interactive and is a fun, yet lackluster alternative to other great racing games on both platforms. I had the opportunity to play the DS version of MySims Racing, but this title also released on the Wii as well. This review WILL have  Major Spoilers  so keep that in mind before continuing... With three game modes to choose from, after you create your Sim in true Sim's fashion, you can choose to play Story Mode, Quick Race, and / or Multiplayer. Creating your Sim isn't all too in-depth in MySims Racing, but it gets the job done, in order for players to have personality driven (based on clothing and facial expressions) avatars behind the wheel. Multiplayer in MySims Racing offers the same options as Mario Kart DS, with Multi-Card Play (for ...

Shantae and the Pirate's Curse

- Reviewed on  Switch  - Shantae and the Pirate's Curse released on October 23rd, 2014.  This installment in the Shantae video game series, developed by WayForward, has been released on many different platforms.  This platformer offers quite the treat, with excellent, memorable music, composed by Jake Kaufman.  And on top of that, the production value of Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is visibly apparent, with its great attention to detail, and fun story revolving around key characters of the series! This review WILL have  Major Spoilers  so keep that in mind before continuing... Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is the third official installment in the beloved platformer series, and personally, my first time with the dancing half-genie. Shantae is sort of the big hero of her homeland, called Sequin Land. With many friends by her side, such as Bolo, Rottytops, Sky, and more, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is a story about the half-genie who travels a...
