Batman: Arkham City

- Reviewed on  Switch 2  - Batman: Arkham City released on October 18th, 2011. Developed by the phenomenal team at Rocksteady Studios, Batman: Arkham City is an absolute masterclass in superhero gaming — and in my opinion, a near-perfect sequel to the already excellent Batman: Arkham Asylum. This review WILL have  Major Spoilers  so keep that in mind before continuing... As someone who’s been a massive fan of Batman for years — with Gotham’s lore, heroes, and villains being the universe I’m most invested in — Arkham City is everything I could ask for in a Batman experience. It’s pure fan service in the best way possible. Set in a walled-off section of Gotham turned into a massive prison city, Batman is thrown headfirst into a political conspiracy, a power struggle among criminals, and a deeply personal ticking time bomb tied to both Hugo Strange and The Joker.  The scale is huge yet still grounded in what makes Batman who he is: detective, fighter, and symbol of...

Mario Kart World

- Reviewed on  Switch 2  - Mario Kart World released on June 5th, 2025. Developed by Nintendo, this latest installment in the iconic racing series brings both familiar thrills and new elements to the table.  Playing it on the Switch 2, I had the chance to experience the game’s updated graphics, larger roster, and expanded modes firsthand. This review WILL have  Major Spoilers  so keep that in mind before continuing... The story in Mario Kart has never been a central focus, and this title is no exception.  There isn’t a traditional plot, but the game does provide an open world hub to explore.  Here, you can unlock missions, collect items, and find new costumes and characters.  While it’s a neat addition, I didn’t find the open world particularly compelling compared to the core racing experience.  Still, it’s an interesting touch that shows Nintendo’s willingness to experiment with the Mario Kart formula. The gameplay itself is where Mario Kart...

Nexomon

- Reviewed on Switch 2 - Nexomon released on August 10th, 2017. Developed by VEWO INTERACTIVE INC., Nexomon is a creature-capturing RPG that draws heavy inspiration from Pokémon, offering players a colorful world filled with collectible creatures, battles, and exploration.  Playing it on the Switch 2 gave me smooth performance, almost nonexistent loading times, and a crisp, vibrant display, which made wandering through towns and routes a joy. This review WILL have Major Spoilers so keep that in mind before continuing... The story of Nexomon follows a young tamer—you—who enters a world teeming with mysterious creatures known as Nexomon.  From the very start, you’re thrust into a world where tamers compete for prestige, and a shadowy organization seeks to exploit the creatures for their own gain.  Early in your journey, you meet a few friendly characters who provide guidance, and a rival tamer whose repeated encounters create tension and give purpose to your battles....

Batman: The Telltale Series

- Reviewed on Switch 2 - Batman: The Telltale Series released on November 14th, 2017. Developed by Telltale Games, this narrative-driven adventure dives deep into the psyche of Bruce Wayne, offering a fresh perspective on the Dark Knight saga. This review WILL have Major Spoilers so keep that in mind before continuing... What sets this game apart right off the bat is its laser focus on character development—not just Batman, but especially Bruce Wayne. The story unfolds over five episodes, blending mystery, political intrigue, and personal drama into a tightly woven narrative that keeps you hooked from start to finish. You start just as a major crime boss is assassinated, throwing Gotham into chaos and thrusting Bruce Wayne back into the spotlight. The game masterfully explores the duality of Bruce and Batman, making you juggle his public persona, personal relationships, and vigilante duties all at once. Along the way, you interact with key Gotham figures like Alfred, Selina Kyle, Har...

Shantae: Risky's Revenge

- Reviewed on Switch 2 - Shantae: Risky’s Revenge released on October 4th, 2010. Developed by WayForward, this sequel in the Shantae series brings back the quirky half-genie heroine for another adventure. This review WILL have Major Spoilers so keep that in mind before continuing... I really like the simple and sweet story the game tells. Shantae, the half-genie guardian of Scuttle Town, faces off against the villainous Risky Boots once again.  The plot follows Shantae as she tries to stop Risky from unleashing dark magic that threatens her world. It’s lighthearted and charming, with just enough twists to keep things interesting. Along Shantae’s journey, you’ll explore a variety of distinct areas including the bustling hub of Scuttle Town, the scenic cliffs of Mermaid Cliffs, and the eerie expanses of Pumpkin Fields. You’ll trek through the sandy wastes of Baron Desert, weave your way into the dense Tangle Forest, and confront challenges in the mysterious Hypno Tower. Other notab...

Developed by 3909 LLC, Papers, Please is a distinctive simulation game that puts you in the shoes of an immigration officer stationed at a border checkpoint in a fictional Eastern Bloc-style country. Gas Station Simulator

- Reviewed on Switch - Gas Station Simulator released on September 15th, 2021.  Developed by Drago Entertainment, this oddball sim title surprised me in the best way. I wasn’t expecting much going in — the eShop screenshots looked kind of janky, and I figured it’d be another bland, budget simulator. But man, I was wrong. This review WILL have Major Spoilers so keep that in mind before continuing... Let me start by saying: this is my kind of simulator.  You’re dropped into a dusty, middle-of-nowhere desert, given a rundown gas station, and slowly (and I mean slowly) turn it into a full-blown empire. I’m talking gas pumps, restrooms, a garage workshop, a car wash, parking spaces, snack shelves, outdoor furniture, arcade machines, an airfield (?!), and even a basketball hoop.  I was blown away by how much content was packed in here. The story is surprisingly subtle for a game that’s mainly about managing gas pumps and fixing cars.  You start as a small-time entreprene...
