Hungry Shark World
- Reviewed on Mobile -
Controls aren't great in this game (at least for mobile) as I find myself trying to adjust to the control scheme every time I play this game.
Hungry Shark World released on December 22nd, 2015.
This game has quickly become a favorite of mine on mobile devices.
I truly believe Ubisoft hit a gold mine with this title and I find myself playing this game religiously at times!
This review WILL have Major Spoilers so keep that in mind before continuing...
Serving as a hidden gem of a mobile game, in my eyes, Hungry Shark World is exactly what the name implies, you play as various sharks and eat anything and everything to get high scores, coins, gems, etc.
The variety of sharks in this game is definitely my favorite part of the entire game.
Separated in categories, you can eventually unlock (by playing or buying with real money) plenty of different sharks that are either extra small, small, medium, large, extra large, extra extra large, or out of this world large (represented by two explanation points).
At first, I didn't know if this would be a game I would stick to and enjoy after multiple playthroughs, but the amount of content in this mobile (and console) game is amazing and bigger than you think.
An example of this game being bigger than you probably originally thought, is the locked areas of the map(s) you play.
You will be playing this game with a small shark for example, and come across a barrier that only large sharks can break through.
This conflict forces you to keep playing to get more points and eventually unlock new (bigger) sharks.
I do have an issue with the gems in this game.
To start, coins are pretty easy to obtain and use to level up sharks, however, gems are very hard to obtain if your not just doing the daily rewards.
Daily rewards are where I get most of my gems and even those big amounts of gems are no where near the amount needed for power ups, skins, traits, etc. for your collection of sharks.
As mentioned earlier there are power ups, skins, and much more to upgrade in Hungry Shark World.
These upgrades, although expensive (both coin wise and gem wise), serve an important factor, as a ticket to great high scores, which at the end of the day, is the main attraction of this game.
The music in Hungry Shark World is the perfect tone and captures that intense, underwater feel portrayed in games, tv shows, and of course movies.
You can swim in different maps across the globe and eat different types of fish (and human)!
It's always fun in my eyes, to jump high in the air, at an angle and reach the residential parts of the map.
This shows Ubisoft took the time to make this a real, legit title and not a throw away, cash grab.
Honestly, my only issue with this whole game is the gems issue, controls, and how expensive this game is (upgrades, skins, etc.) at times.
Pros:
- Great Music
- Lots of Content
- Easy to Get Coins
- Variety of Sharks
- Different Maps
Cons:
- Bad Control Scheme (At Least on Mobile)
- Hard to Get Gems
- Expensive Upgrades, Skins, Tools, etc.
My Rating for Hungry Shark World (on Mobile):
3 / 5
