MARVEL SNAP

MARVEL SNAP released on October 18th, 2022.
With a lot of buzz and promotion for this free mobile game, MARVEL SNAP is a multiplayer, card-based, strategy game that depicts two players against each other for power superiority.
Containing dozens upon dozens of unlockable cards, variants, and customization, MARVEL SNAP has quickly become one of my all-time favorite mobile games (as of writing this blog post)!
This review WILL have Major Spoilers so keep that in mind before continuing...
The overall objective in MARVEL SNAP is to overcome your opponent by gaining the most power out of the three randomized locations.
Every time you play a match in MARVEL SNAP, the locations reveal themselves after the first three turns occur.
Just like the actual playing cards in MARVEL SNAP, the locations are all MARVEL related, having locations be familiar to various heroes and villains' stories.
For example, you may come across the Daily Bugle or even Fisk Tower. All locations in MARVEL SNAP have a specific effect to them.
These effects can either help or harm your chances of winning, so pay attention and don't overlook them!
The cards you collect and play with, in MARVEL SNAP, are (as stated earlier) all heroes and villains from the MARVEL universe.
There are simply way too many cards to list here, but you will come across very famous heroes / villains like Iron Man and Venom, and even low-level tier heroes / villains too that you may never have heard of (I definitely experienced this).
All cards also have one of three ability types. These are On Reveal, Ongoing, and / or No Ability.
Combining different ability types and certain cards (decks) and seeing what wins is half the fun!
As you play matches and win (or lose) you will gain a variety of currencies.
The main currency in MARVEL SNAP is called Credits.
Credits have two main uses (as of writing this blog post), one being upgrading your cards appearance when you gain enough boosters (upgrade points), and also purchasing immediate upgrades for three randomized cards in a specified time limit.
Another currency is Gold where you can buy rotating variants (daily offers), exchange for credits, or even buy limited time bundles (containing avatars, boosters, etc.).
When you get stronger and get higher in the Collection Levels, you will soon unlock the final currency, this being Tokens.
Once you gain tokens, the Token Shop opens, and you can purchase cards from past and present series.
You can also lock a card from this shop so you can save and purchase it later, if you really want it.
The case for this feature is that tokens aren't as common as Credits or Gold and are pretty rare when reaching certain accomplishments.
Avatars are also rare if you aren't willing to pay real money for this feature. You can unlock avatars free of charge, but it is a random draw.
Titles are also unlockables that give you a phrase underneath your avatar and player name.
The options on the main menu are (as of writing this blog post)...
- Shop
- Collection
- Main
- Game Modes
- News
You can additionally view your rank on the main menu and even see current season pass achievements / prizes for you to earn and win cubes to collect.
When you SNAP during a match, you will either win additional cubes or lose them if it backfires.
Making a deck is absolutely mandatory, and with the plethora of cards you collect and their specific powers per card, the combinations are truly endless!
Pros:
- Endless Combinations
- Free Game with Plenty of Features
- Great Music, Voices, and Other Sound Effects
- Nice Graphics
- Not Pay to Win
- Good Longevity
Cons:
- Expensive Bundles / In-Game Purchases (at Times)
My Rating for MARVEL SNAP (on Mobile):
5 / 5
