Bomber Crew

Bomber Crew released on October 19th, 2017.

Developed by Runner Duck and published by Curve Games, Bomber Crew is a unique blend of strategy, simulation, and action that puts you in charge of your very own bomber aircraft during intense aerial missions.

This review WILL have Major Spoilers so keep that in mind before continuing...

From the very start, Bomber Crew impressed me with how it balances accessibility with deep strategic mechanics.

You control a bomber plane and manage its crew, each with specialized roles—pilots, gunners, engineers, and more—while navigating challenging missions with enemy aircraft, flak, and bombing targets.

One of my favorite parts of Bomber Crew is the customization.

You can name your crew members, assign outfits, tweak their roles, and watch them grow with experience.

It gives a surprisingly personal touch to the missions, and I found myself genuinely attached to my first few recruits.

Gameplay feels tight and rewarding on the Switch 2.

Controls are intuitive once you familiarize yourself with the layout, and the mechanics for positioning crew during emergencies feel smooth and responsive.

Every mission keeps you on your toes, whether it’s dodging flak, manning guns, or extinguishing fires in the cabin.

The cartoonish art style works perfectly for the game.

It’s clean, simple, and colorful without being flashy, letting you focus on strategy without visual clutter.

Combined with an outstanding audio design—bombs dropping, machine guns firing, alarms blaring, and engines roaring—Bomber Crew nails the tension and thrill of air combat.

The UI is extremely approachable. Even with multiple crew members and tasks to manage, it never feels overwhelming.

You can quickly assess damage, crew health, and mission objectives without getting lost in menus.

Enemy Aces and the increasing difficulty of missions provide a real sense of risk and reward.

Long sorties with high-stakes objectives feel intense and satisfying, especially when you manage to complete a mission with minimal casualties.

Fast loading times also keep the pace smooth and let you jump back into action without interruption.

If there’s one drawback, it’s the inability to fast-forward during non-combat portions of the map.

You can only speed through when entering or leaving safe zones, which sometimes makes the downtime between encounters feel a bit slower than I’d like.

Still, this is a minor gripe in an otherwise polished experience.

Overall, Bomber Crew is an excellent airplane combat simulator with a perfect mix of strategy, management, and action.

The combination of great gameplay mechanics, customization, audio-visual polish, and mission variety make it a title I’ll happily revisit.
