Resident Evil 5

- Reviewed on  PS4  - Resident Evil 5 released on March 5th, 2009. This installment in the Resident Evil series, that I adore, is filled to the brim with non-stop action, suspense, horror, and everything else a Resident Evil game is known to have.  Although it is debatable if this game is one of the best, Resident Evil 5 definitely provides a heart racing, jam-packed campaign (story) that may or may not be memorable to some. This review WILL have  Major Spoilers  so keep that in mind before continuing... Taking place in a fictional region of Africa named Kijuju, you take control of lead protagonist Chris Redfield. Along with you, as Chris, you can also make your game a multiplayer session and invite a friend to play as the second protagonist, Sheva Alomar.  I (as of writing this blog post) have only played Resident Evil 5 in single player mode (sessions) and because of that (this) I had Sheva controlled by a computer and it was actually (surprisingly) ...

Mario Party Superstars

- Reviewed on  Switch  - Mario Party Superstars released on October 29th, 2021.  This Mario Party installment has / had a nostalgic twist to it and offers a lot more than the previous Mario Party title on the switch. Yes, Mario Party Superstars does have its flaws compared to its predecessor (on the Switch), but in my opinion, these flaws don't outweigh the sheer enjoyment I got playing this over and over again! Honestly, I believe Mario Party Superstars will become (if not already) a Nintendo Switch essential (game).  This review WILL have  Major Spoilers  so keep that in mind before continuing... For me personally, as hinted at earlier, I enjoyed this installment better than Super Mario Party (2018).  Nothing against Super Mario Party, but this game (Mario Party Superstars) was just more enjoyable with the minigames, music, boards, and the biggest convenience, the fast-paced nature of each game mode (and the NPCs).  Speaking of game modes, ...

Metro 2033 Redux

- Reviewed on  PS4  - Metro 2033 Redux released on August 26th, 2014. Based on the popular novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro 2033 Redux is a very unique and action-packed game for all fans of the series, whether that be the books, games, or both! This review WILL have  Major Spoilers  so keep that in mind before continuing... Following the story of main protagonist Artyom, in a post-apocalyptic Moscow, Russia, 4A Games did a wonderful and truly unique job of showing Artyom's journey (SPOILER), starting with how the game ends. To specify what I mean by that is, in the very beginning you're playing as Artyom (although you don't know that clearly) and eventually make your way (with your future team) to the final destination of Artyom's journey (and the game overall), the Tower.  This beginning scene has an abrupt ending, and then transports you to the very beginning of Artyom's metro lifestyle, and you follow the events of the story that eventually lead back u...

Marvel's Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition

- Reviewed on  PS4  - Marvel's Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition released on September 7th, 2018. This superhero title was a game I always wanted to buy and play, and finally, after putting it off for a while, I got the opportunity to play this highly praised title, and it did not disappoint me in the slightest. Everything I hoped this game would be / feel was exactly portrayed when I pressed play and although there is one feature I did not like, everything else was near perfection! This review WILL have  Major Spoilers  so keep that in mind before continuing... The very popular lore behind Spider-Man is truly put to its best in this title and right from the beginning your thrown into the life of Peter Parker.  The classic, humorous, one liners and jokes Peter (Spider-Man) makes in this game is very appropriate for the hero and adds for more realism in this / his character.  The voice acting overall is outstanding in this game by everyone, and while...

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2

- Reviewed on  PS4  - Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 released on September 13th, 2016. Developed by Namco, this sequel takes the classic arcade gameplay of Pac-Man and ramps it up with faster-paced, more intricate mazes, intense music, and some fresh mechanics designed to modernize the experience.  It’s a fun, accessible title that anyone—from longtime fans to newcomers—can pick up and enjoy.  That said, it doesn’t quite have the lasting power to keep me glued for hours at a time. This review WILL have  Major Spoilers  so keep that in mind before continuing... At its heart, Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 is a love letter to the original Pac-Man formula.  You’re still navigating mazes, gobbling up pellets, chasing after fruit bonuses, and dodging—or chasing—ghosts.  But the updated mazes add layers of complexity with new pathways and multiple screens connected in surprising ways.  The visuals are slick, with neon-lit corridors and a moder...

Far Cry 3

- Reviewed on  PS4  - Far Cry 3 released on November 29th, 2012. Highly regarded as a fan favorite of the Far Cry series, Far Cry 3 is definitely a must play for fans of the base series and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this installment even though it released a while ago.  There were a few negative aspects like the voice acting and repetitiveness to name a few in this game, but the base game itself was a joy to learn and of course, play, over its approximately 20-hour length.  This review WILL have  Major Spoilers  so keep that in mind before continuing... Taking the role of Jason Brody, brother to Grant and Riley Brody, you are immediately thrown into the action with a video clip of you and your friends on an island partying, but then taken hostage by pirates, led by one of the main antagonists, Vaas.  I loved the transition Ubisoft did with the main plot, as the video you watched is actually on a camera held by Vaas and so you are immediate...

Pokémon Sword

- Reviewed on  Switch  - Pokémon Sword released on November 15th, 2019.  I have been an "off and on" type of fan with Pokémon in my life.  I will get a Pokémon game, get addicted for a while, then take long breaks from them and sometimes never return to them.  Pokémon Sword is a great Pokémon installment in the series and although the post story content is limited for an offline, solo player like myself, the journey to being the champion is a lot of fun and very memorable... at times.  This review WILL have  Major Spoilers  so keep that in mind before continuing... The location for Pokémon Sword is called the Galar region, which upon research, is based on the United Kingdom.  As usual, in Pokémon games, you get to choose one of three Pokémon. In Pokémon Sword I was very pleased with the design and nature of the three choices. The three choices are...     - Grookey     - Scorbunny     - Sobble What I wasn't p...
